Goals- It Only a Game
Having trouble with goals? They may not be esoteric enough.
Seriously, we caught this segment on NPR's "Only A Game" about the Trinity College squash team. Some great stuff and some great motivation.
Listen and tell me what you think, are your goals not esoteric enough?
Trinity College has put together a dynasty on college squash. The Bantams have won the last ten intercollegiate championships and haven’t lost a match since 1997. It’s not even a question if the team will win; it’s a question of if they’ll even drop a point. Bill Littlefield reports on the most successful college sports program in recent history

This is an amazing story. Just imagining what the energy must be like to perform with that crew...something that always amazes me is how to keep a team performing in the zone like that for the long haul. I think we've all been with a group that was in the zone for a time, due in part to investing time and energy on practice, discipline, and camaraderie. It builds, and then at some point everything starts clicking, and synergy occurrs, and beautiful things happen. But then things go astray, people depart and the synergy evaporates like so much smoke. What does it take to keep it together?
What hit me when I first heard it was the genuiness of the coach, he used some cliche's but the were real to him and the team.
Getting those young peeps to have goals beyond themselves, just amazing.
